- 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 1 star anise
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- Chopped scallions for garnish
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, ginger, and star anise. Coat the beef belly in the marinade and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the marinated beef belly in a roasting pan and roast for approximately 1.5 – 2 hours until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
- Once roasted, increase the oven temperature to broil and brush the beef with leftover marinade. Broil for 2-3 minutes until caramelized.
- In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Slice the beef belly thickly, drizzle with creamy sauce, and garnish with chopped scallions and sesame seeds.
