Description

Crispy Char Siu Beef Belly with Creamy Sauce is a sensational dish that brings together the luscious flavors of marinated beef belly with a velvety sauce, perfect for impressing guests or enjoying a cozy family dinner. The sweet and savory marinade caramelizes beautifully during roasting, creating a crispy exterior that contrasts delightfully with the tender meat inside.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless beef belly
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 1 star anise
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • Chopped scallions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, ginger, and star anise. Coat the beef belly in the marinade and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the marinated beef belly in a roasting pan and roast for approximately 1.5 – 2 hours until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  3. Once roasted, increase the oven temperature to broil and brush the beef with leftover marinade. Broil for 2-3 minutes until caramelized.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  5. Slice the beef belly thickly, drizzle with creamy sauce, and garnish with chopped scallions and sesame seeds.
