  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 12 tbsp milk (as needed for consistency)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • Pinch of salt (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup until smooth.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
  3. Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  5. Scoop about 1½ tablespoons of dough into balls and place on prepared sheets 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are lightly golden but centers remain soft. Cool on sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, salt, and milk to desired consistency; drizzle over cooled cookies.
