  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • Sweet potatoes (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sweet potatoes by peeling and chopping them into chunks. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15–20 minutes. Drain and mash until smooth.
  2. In a cast iron skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery; sauté until softened.
  3. Stir in the ground lamb and cook until browned. Add tomato paste, thyme, rosemary, cinnamon, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, broth, and peas; mix well and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Spread the lamb mixture evenly in the skillet and top with the creamy sweet potato mash.
  5. Bake for about 20–25 minutes until golden on top. Let cool slightly before serving.
