- ½ cup butter (for caramel sauce)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup cream

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare an 11 x 8-inch casserole dish.
- Combine chopped dates and baking soda in a bowl. Heat milk until scalded and pour over the dates; let cool.
- In separate bowls, mix flour with baking powder and salt; beat eggs in another bowl.
- Blend eggs, dark brown sugar, butter, and vanilla in a food processor. Gradually add the flour mixture followed by the date mixture until smooth.
- Pour batter into the prepared dish and bake for about 30 minutes or until set.
- For the caramel sauce, melt butter in a saucepan, stir in brown sugar and salt until dissolved; gradually add cream and simmer until thickened.
